11 Jan Are you aware of the UKCA marking; time is running out
Are you supplying products and materials to the UK?.
If you are a manufacturer or supplier selling or considering selling goods to UK. It is important that you are aware of the new UKCA marking.
Following Brexit, the UK has left the European Union. The transition period came to an end in December 2020. From January 2021 products and goods that required the CE marking, will now need to have the UKCA marking. To enable them to enter the UK market.
If you want to supply products and materials to the UK you need to understand the route to market.
What is the UKCA Marking?
From January 2021 all good placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) will require the new UKCA marking. The UKCA Marking on its own, cannot be used for goods placed on Northern Ireland markets – as these still requires the CE marking or UK (NI) marking.
There will be a transition period for certain products.
What does the marking cover?
The UKCA covers most goods which previously required the CE Marking.
You must meet the technical requirements, along with demonstrating conformity through assessment. These requirements are largely the same as they were for the CE marking.
The circumstances in which you can use self-declaration of conformity for UKCA marking are the same as for CE marking.
